Mobile Medical Units
Mobile OPDs - : In collaboration with Tata Steel, GDI operates 3 mobile medical units for OPD services in their mining areas of Keonjhar and Sundergarh districts of Odisha. Each unit is staffed with –
- A MBBS doctor
- A nurse
- A pharmacist
- And a driver
The consultation and medicines are given free and in case of emergencies the vehicles are equipped with oxygen backup support to transport the patient to the nearest health facility.
Additionally, GDI also provides technical support at mega health camps in CSR initiatives of the TATAs in collaboration with the government. It also acts as the standby medical unit and counselling point on reproductive health for other events too.
